The museum's F4 Meteor has been painted to represent an Australian F.8 model
which we used during the Korean War from 1951-53. Aussie pilots quickly
discovered the twin-engine, straight wing Meteor was no match for the Mig
15s which were lighter, faster and could climb higher. The Meteors could
however out-turn and out-dive the Migs and generally performed better at
low altitude, while the twin-engines made them a good ground attack aircraft
with many limping home on one.
