Victa Airtourer T6
One of the few wholly designed and built Australian aircraft, the Victa Airtourer has attained a near "cult" status among its pilots at Lilydale. Posessing delightfully sensitive controls, the Victa is great fun to fly but is also good fun for doing some distance touring, getting along at a very respectable TAS of 120-125kts.

General Aircraft Information
The Airtourer owes its origin to the Light Aircraft Design Competition organised by the Royal Aero Club of Britain in 1953 which was won by the entry of Henry Millicer. It was originally proposed that the winning design be adopted by the airforces of Australia, Canada and the UK however the other Commonwealth nations backed out leaving it to be built for the civilian market by Australia's Victa Limited.
The design was put into production with a 100hp and later a 115hp engine and 170 were built before competition from overseas manufacturers and a lack of protection saw the design rights and tooling sold to New Zealand. Production of more powerful models continued for some time as well as a slightly larger version which was (ironically) bought by the Royal Australian Air Force as the CT-4 in the 1970s.
Lilydale's Victa has been lovingly rebuilt to the specifications of a New Zealand-built T6 version and incorporates a 160hp engine and constant speed propellor giving it a very sprightly performance compared to the earlier models.
