'Escape to Three Hummock' Ever dreamed of spending a weekend in an island paradise all to yourself? Spend two days in a self- catered shared cottage on this beautiful island just 75min flying from Lilydale. Three Hummock Island is a magical place, lying off the North-West tip of Tasmania. The pristine nature reserve features granite coastlines, private coves and sweeping beaches. In 1889, naturalist E.D. Atkinson scaled its highest hummock and wrote: "We found the view from this culminating point of the group one of exceeding beauty. At our feet lay stretched a minature continent, with its mountains, plains, forests, lakes and bays. I have often seen greater distances from higher altitudes but never a prettier or more comprehensive view than this." The island's natural beauty, isolation, peace, animals, beaches and forests create a perfect setting for individual or family retreats, vacations or getaways. As a guest of the island's host, Rob Alliston, you will be transferred from the airstrip to Eagle Lodge OR take a break to enjoy the 8km scenic woodland walk. Our favourite pastimes on the island are wandering the unspoilt beaches, exploring the bush tracks and spying on the abundant wildlife. However, you can also go snorkelling, surfing, hiking and 4-Wheel Driving with Rob, or just relaxing. Eagle Lodge has a bird's eye view of the bay and an open log fire which is kept well stoked for most of the time. Accomodation is limited to groups of 10 but come prepared to do the cooking in the well-appointed kitchen! WHEN? We can schedule your island escape to suit you, subject to a minimum of 4 passengers.
